Prime Minister Han Deok-soo said he respects the National Assembly's decision to pass the impeachment bill against him, but said he would wait for the Constitutional Court to make a wise decision.

Prime Minister Han issued a statement shortly after the National Assembly passed the impeachment bill and said he felt sorry for the next generation of the country, regardless of his personal future, for answering the bill with an impeachment instead of a rational counterargument.

However, he said he respects the National Assembly's decision and would suspend his duties under relevant laws to avoid further confusion and uncertainty, and wait for the Constitutional Court's swift and wise decision.

At the same time, the members of the State Council and public officials of all ministries asked them to carry out their duties without wavering.

As for why he refuses to appoint a constitutional judge while exercising his veto, Prime Minister Han once again emphasized the existing position that the acting president has vetoed in the past, and that the constitutional judge has never been appointed without an agreement between the ruling and opposition parties.
