CJ Korea Express' '7 days a week delivery' labor pains...Delivery union "concerned about overworking"

With CJ Korea Express saying it will push for delivery seven days a week starting next year, courier workers have raised concerns about overwork.

The Korean Confederation of Trade Unions' service union held a press conference today (13th) and said the company proposed working five days a week in groups of four for delivery seven days a week, but it is impossible without additional manpower.

He also argued that although he has negotiated with the management four times, the opinions of on-site couriers are not reflected, and that if the company pushes ahead with the existing proposal, couriers will suffer serious overwork.

The courier union will hold a protest in front of CJ Korea Express headquarters in Jongno-gu, Seoul on the 24th if the negotiations fail after the fifth round of negotiations with the management on the 19th.

Earlier in August, CJ Korea Express announced that it would start delivering packages seven days a week starting next year while guaranteeing a five-day work week for couriers.
