With the U.S. recently imposing export controls on South Korean high-bandwidth memory and semiconductor equipment to China, the government has sought countermeasures with the industry.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy held a briefing session with the semiconductor equipment industry to explain the background and progress of the U.S. measures to strengthen export controls on semiconductors.
Korean companies who attended the meeting reportedly inquired about whether their items are subject to U.S. export control and the process of applying for export permits.
The Ministry of Industry said it distributes guides to help domestic companies respond smoothly and provides counseling services through the Korea Trade Security Administration and the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association, asking them to actively use them.
