Arrested North Korean defectors in their 30s who stole the bus and tried to cross the Tongil Bridge..."It's hard to live in South Korea".

A North Korean defector in his 30s who was trying to drive a bus to North Korea from the Tongil Bridge in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, was caught by police at around 1:30 a.m. today (1st).

Paju Police Station in Gyeonggi Province is investigating a man in his 30s on charges of theft.

A is accused of trying to cross the Tongil Bridge after stealing a village bus parked in Munsan-eup, Paju.

Mr. A was found to have ignored the restraints of a military sentinel blocking North Korea's direction and hit the traffic barrier before stopping.

Mr. A is a North Korean defector who came to South Korea more than 10 years ago and reportedly stated that he committed the crime to return to North Korea due to difficulties in living in South Korea.

The security investigation unit of the Gyeonggi Northern Police Agency, which took over the case, is investigating the exact motive of the crime.
