Recently, as the weather has become rapidly chilly, many people will take out electric pads at home.Heat transfer equipment using

high heat can catch fire in an instant, so you must follow basic safety rules.

Reporter Yoon Woong-sung reports.

One corner of the yellow pillow burned black.

The pillowcase that was wrapped around the outside was also charred.

The latex pillow I put on the electric pad caught fire.

Latex poses a high risk of fire when used with electric pads because it continues to accumulate heat.

In past experiments, when a latex pillow was placed on an electric pad, the temperature soared to 180 degrees in less than an hour, and the inside was charred and melted.

[Lee Youngjoo / Professor of Fire and Disaster Prevention at Kyungil University] If the heat from the electric pad continues to accumulate in the latex even if the temperature is not high enough for the fire to spread, the fire will be caused by the accumulation of heat....]

Around 200 fires related to electric pads, which are mainly used at home for heating, occur every year and are steadily increasing.

In order to prevent electric pad fires, it is necessary to avoid sharing materials that are vulnerable to fire, such as latex, memory foam, and thick blankets.

Also, if there is a fold when using it, the temperature can soar significantly and lead to a fire, so it must be unfolded and used.

When storing, do not repeat folding and unfolding, but roll it up and store it to prevent fire caused by damage to the internal heating wire.
