The bereaved family of the victims of the so-called "stick murder," in which the representative of the sports center stabbed a stick into the body of an employee, lost a compensation suit against the state, saying the police's initial response was insufficient.

The Seoul Western District Court today (11th) dismissed the 900 million won damages paid by the victims' bereaved families against the state.

When looking at the records of the incident, the court judged that it was insufficient to admit that the dispatched police officers died of negligence or violated the Police Officer Duty Execution Act.

The victim's father told reporters after the trial that he would appeal the wrong ruling even though there were still scenes of police officers being dispatched to CCTV and just going back.

In 2021, Han, a representative of the sports center, was put on trial for assaulting an employee and stabbing a stick into his body to death, and the Supreme Court confirmed a 25-year prison term.
