A 20-year-old man who earned a large amount of money by selling illegal compounds of deepfake by famous celebrities and sexual exploitation of children and adolescents as a minor was sentenced to prison.

The Uijeongbu District Court sentenced A, a man in his 20s, to seven years in prison on charges of violating the Child and Youth Sex Protection Act, and ordered confiscation of 100 million won in virtual currency and additional 320 million won in cash.

Mr. A was accused of advertising child and adolescent sexual exploitation and deepfake videos on pornographic sites more than 1,700 times in a year from July 2022, when he was a teenager.

A was found to have earned more than 400 million won by receiving 50% of the profits when people who saw the advertisement paid for the use of overseas web hard companies.

There were 54 confirmed victims of illegal filming alone, and some posts posted false video captures that edited and synthesized the faces of famous celebrities.

The court explained that A started the crime when he was a minor who was somewhat immature in judgment and considered the fact that he agreed with 12 people.
