Following Seoul National University, Yonsei University and Korea University have approved medical student leave of absence, and other medical schools are speeding up the approval process.

The Ministry of Education, which said it would allow universities to approve leave of absence on their own, aligned with the president's office, saying there is no change in the principle of no alliance leave of absence.

When the Ministry of Education announced that it would leave medical students on leave to the university's autonomy, Yonsei University and Korea University immediately approved the leave of absence.

More than 30 other medical schools are also expected to proceed with the approval process soon.

When it was pointed out that the government took a step back, the president's office expressed a strong stance, saying it did not allow the alliance to take a leave of absence.

The Ministry of Education, which tried to appease the medical community and return medical students, is in a difficult situation.

In response, unlike the previous day when the Ministry of Education emphasized self-approval,

He stressed that the move only simplified the process of approving leave of absence and that there is no change in the position that alliance leave of absence is not possible.

However, as it is difficult to determine whether or not to take a leave of absence from alliance with only student statements, most of the leave of absence from medical students is expected to be approved.

When it was pointed out that they were blindfolded and complaining right away, the Ministry of Education handed over the responsibility to each university.

They say they trust the university, and if the submitted leave of absence and student intentions do not match, the university can judge on its own.

In fact, even if the university approves the leave of absence, I am worried about how to educate the students and freshmen who will return next year.

Regarding the plan to reduce the six-year course by up to one year, the Ministry of Education stressed that this is also the university's autonomy to organize the curriculum.

In the end, both the presidential office and the Ministry of Education are in the position that virtually nothing has changed regarding medical student leave of absence, so it still seems difficult to close the gap with the medical community.
