A four-car pileup on the way home from work...a series of highway accidents

One person was taken to a hospital when four cars collided one after another on a highway in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province, during rush hour.

There were also a series of highway accidents on the West Coast Expressway, with one person killed in a five-car collision.

News of the incident, reporter Yoon Tae-in's report.

The bumper behind the right side of the SUV that blinks the emergency light is in tatters.

Other vehicles around them were crushed to the point where it was hard to know what they were like as if they had crumpled a bunch of paper.

At around 6:30 p.m. yesterday (15th), four cars collided one after another, with an SUV crashing into a leading car near the Seokmunryeong Tunnel on the Second Circulation Expressway in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province.

[Police official: There was a traffic jam during rush hour, so we had a rear-end collision.] A woman in her 20s in a car whose SUV crashed in

was taken to a hospital.

Police believe that the SUV driver who caused the accident did not secure a safe distance and are investigating the details of the accident.

A cloud of smoke rises high into the sky with a stopped vehicle on the shoulder.

The SUV that was heading south near the Jincheon Interchange on the Jungbu Expressway in Jincheon-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do caught fire at around 9:50 last night.

Fortunately, no one was hurt and the fire was extinguished in 20 minutes.

[Police official: The engine was smoldering while driving, and it stopped on the shoulder and ignited.]

Based on the driver's statements, police believe the engine room overheated and the fire started.

At around 4:20 p.m. yesterday, a one-ton truck and four cars collided one after another heading toward Mokpo near the Paltan Junction on the west coast highway in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do.

The accident, in which a truck driver in his 50s was killed and two others were injured, was followed by two cars on the first lane and then three others on the same lane.
