"Plastic International Convention" is the last negotiation from today.

The last intergovernmental negotiating committee will be held on the Convention to End Plastic Pollution, which is considered the most important environmental agreement since the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

The 5th Intergovernmental Negotiation Committee for the International Convention to End Plastic Pollution will hold a meeting in BEXCO, Busan, from today (25th) to the 1st of next month to conduct negotiations.

The negotiating committee will be attended by government delegations from more than 170 U.N. member countries, environmental groups, and lobbyists from the petrochemical industry.

The committee will discuss various issues, including whether to regulate the production of primary plastic polymers and whether to set global plastic reduction targets, but it is unclear whether the agreement will succeed due to sharp positions among countries.

For this reason, some predict that the negotiations could be concluded in the form of a framework agreement that only defines the direction of a large framework rather than containing specific details in this agreement.
