Police have caught a manufacturer that exported a satellite broadcast receiver, or DDoS attack program, in a set-top box.
The National Investigation Headquarters of the National Police Agency said today (28th) that it has sent five people, including A, the CEO of a domestic set-top box manufacturer, and executives and employees, without detention to the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office.
A and others are suspected of distributing 240,000 set-top boxes with malicious programs that can paralyze services by generating large amounts of traffic from January 2019 to September 2019.
Police found that they created such a set-top box in November 2018 after being asked to add a DDoS function by an illegal business that allows them to use paid broadcasting for free when installing set-top boxes.
However, it was investigated that the set-top box was not distributed in Korea.
The police applied for additional preservation before prosecution for 6.1 billion won in profits earned by A's manufacturer and received a seizure decision from the court.
