The Constitutional Court's First Trial of Impeachment...a discussion of service procedures

2024.12.19 PM 09:30
The Constitutional Court held its first judicial review on the impeachment trial of President Yoon Suk Yeol this morning (19th) and discussed the issues of the case.

The judges' council is a regular meeting in which all judges gather to discuss issues of the case to derive orders for pending cases, and it is a principle to be closed to the public.

The meeting reportedly reviewed whether to consider serving documents sent to President Yoon in connection with the progress of the impeachment trial of President Yoon.

Consideration of service means that even if the party refuses to receive the document, it is deemed to have been delivered and proceed with the trial proceedings.

Since the 16th, the Constitutional Court has sent various documents necessary for the impeachment proceedings to President Yoon, but it has been difficult to deliver them because it has not been confirmed whether Yoon has delivered them or not, such as the bodyguard refusing to receive them.

The Constitutional Court is considering whether to complete the delivery process by treating it as "consideration of delivery" and various methods and requirements, and it is expected to make a decision on this around the 23rd.
