Prosecutors Are "Difficult to Accept" Song Young-gil's Money Envelope Innocence

2025.01.08 PM 10:49
Prosecutors strongly protested when the first trial court acquitted Song Young-gil, former chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, of spreading money envelopes at the national convention, saying his ability to testify was not recognized.

The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office issued a statement immediately after the sentence and said that the failure of the court to recognize the evidence capability of former Democratic Party Secretary-General Lee Jung-geun's mobile phone recording is contrary to the judgment of the existing court, which is difficult to understand and legally accept.

He stressed that in the related case trial, where the same issue was raised, it was repeatedly judged that former Vice-President Lee arbitrarily submitted electronic information contained in his mobile phone, and some accomplices were even confirmed by the Supreme Court on the premise of the legality of this evidence.Chairman

Song was indicted on charges of meddling in the process of spraying money envelopes to win the Democratic National Convention and receiving illegal political funds worth 760 million won.

The Seoul Central District Court sentenced CEO Song to two years in prison and arrested him in court for accepting illegal political funds, but found all charges related to the money bag to be innocent.
