Suspicions arose that military personnel were mobilized to prevent the arrest of President Yoon Suk Yeol when the high-ranking government official's criminal investigation office attempted to arrest him.

When the Ministry of National Defense conveyed its position not to mobilize military troops to stop the arrest, the security service reportedly answered with the intention that "I understand well."

On the 3rd, the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit attempted to execute an arrest warrant for President Yoon Suk Yeol.

However, the security service built the first, second, and third cordons and used physical force to prevent them from entering.

However, it is reported that not only the security office staff but also the 55th Guard Corps of the Capital Defense Command, which was assigned to the security office, were mobilized in the process.

The 55th Guard is a unit that supports the security of the presidential residence, and although it is a member of the Water Guard, the security service has the authority to command and control under the Presidential Security Act.

The Ministry of National Defense said Vice Minister Kim Sun-ho, the acting minister, conveyed to the security service his position that "it is not appropriate to send military personnel to prevent the execution of arrest warrants by the Defense Acquisition Program Administration."

Accordingly, he also said, "I think the National Security Agency will make a proper judgment."

In fact, after receiving the Ministry of National Defense's position, the security service reportedly answered to the effect that "I understand well."

Regarding the opposition's demand for the return of guards, the ministry said it did not consider it.

However, some observers say that if troops are mobilized to block arrest again, the Ministry of National Defense could cancel the 55th Guard's security support mission in accordance with the "Regulations on Delegation and Consignment of Administrative Authority".
