Standing member of the Human Rights Commission, "Guaranteeing President Yoon's right to defend himself, to overcome the national crisis."

2025.01.10 PM 06:14
When it became controversial that the National Human Rights Commission of Korea presented the proposal to the plenary committee that President Yoon Suk Yeol should guarantee his right to defend himself, the standing committee members expressed their position that it was a measure to overcome the national crisis.

Kim Yong-won, a standing member of the Human Rights Commission, said today (10th) that the presumption of innocence should be applied equally to President Yoon to overcome the crisis in which the human rights of all citizens have been threatened since the emergency martial law.

At the same time, he argued that the current national crisis is not the emergency martial law of President Yoon, but the fundamental cause of the Democratic Party of Korea, which has devoted itself to the rebellion and even impeached the prime minister.

Earlier, the Human Rights Commission announced that it would deliberate on an agenda that calls for thoroughly guaranteeing President Yoon's right to defend the impeachment trial at the first plenary session in 2025.
