Starbucks, "If you don't come to the office three days a week, you'll be fired."

Starbucks, the world's largest coffee shop, has warned that it may lay off office workers who fail to follow its three-day-a-week office attendance policy from January next year.

According to the Guardian, a British daily, on the 29th local time, Starbucks said in an internal message to employees that a "responsibility process" will begin in January next year to hold office workers accountable for those who do not comply with office work three days a week.

Starbucks said it would face the risk of being fired if it failed to comply with the hybrid work requirement, which stipulates three days a week to go to the office.

However, the company will no longer designate Tuesday as an office workday, it said, adding that it will let managers decide which day works best for the team.

Since January last year, Starbucks has introduced and operated a hybrid work system that includes working three days a week at the office.

CEO Brian Nicholl also said he would work in the office in excess of or meet hybrid working requirements.

Since September last year, CEO Nicole, who has led Starbucks, has now been commuting nearly 1,000 miles a week from her home in Newport Beach, California, to her headquarters in Seattle, Washington, three times a week on a company jet.

Amazon, the world's largest e-commerce company, has announced full-scale office work starting next year.

Amazon CEO Andy Jash said in a note to all employees last month that he encouraged them to come to the office five days a week, saying they "must comply with the new policy from January 2 next year."

He then said he should go to the office five days a week unless there are special circumstances or exceptions are granted by management-level officials.
