Japan's Defense Minister Gen Nakatani talks with European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Rousseff Borrell and says he is concerned about the North Korean military sending troops to Russia.
At a meeting with senior EU foreign minister Borrell at Tokyo's defense ministry today, Nakatani said the issue was of serious concern about military cooperation between Russia and North Korea, including the deployment of troops to invade Ukraine.
In addition, he stressed that it is important for the EU to solidify its involvement in the Indo-Pacific region, saying that the security of Japan and the EU is inextricable.
Senior Representative Borrell responded by saying that the security environment between the EU and Japan is connected.
Senior Representative Borrell will visit South Korea on the 4th to meet with Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yeol and Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun to discuss how to respond to the North Korean military's dispatch to Russia.
