Ukrainian intelligence claims DDoS attack on Russian banks crippled online banking
According to Ukrainian media, the ministry's intelligence bureau said "cyber attacks on four Russian banks operating illegally in the temporarily occupied Crimea" and that tens of thousands of Russians had lost access to online banking.
Crimea, south of Ukraine, is a region that Russia forcibly annexed in 2014.
Ukraine's intelligence authorities claimed on the 18th of last month that they also carried out cyberattacks on the communications infrastructure of Russia's state-run telecommunications company (Morsbyaz Sputnik).
The Ukrainian military organized an IT unit for digital intelligence collection and cyberattacks shortly after Russia invaded in February 2022.
The Ukrainian military and parliament have recently been discussing the creation of a new cyber force.
