Hamas "Trump Should Press Israel to Stop Invasion"

2024.11.15 PM 10:29
Hamas, an armed Palestinian faction, called on U.S. President-elect Donald Trump to pressure Israel on the 15th local time.

"I urge the U.S. administration and Trump to press the Israeli government to end the invasion," Hamas political director Vashem Naim told AFP.

"Hamas is ready for a ceasefire in Gaza if Israel proposes a ceasefire and respects it," he said.

"We have informed the mediators that we support any proposals that will lead to a definite ceasefire and military withdrawal in Gaza, the return of migrants, serious agreements for prisoner exchanges, humanitarian aid and reconstruction," it added.

Among the terms of the ceasefire mentioned by Hamas, the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza is a condition not accepted by the Israeli government, which is interpreted as a repetition of Hamas' principled position on the ceasefire negotiations.

President-elect Trump is in a position to quickly end the war by telling Israel that the war in Gaza must be ended before the president takes office in January next year.
