Hezbollah spokesman Afif killed in Israeli bombing

Muhammad Afif, a spokesman for Hezbollah, a Lebanese militant group, was killed in Israeli bombardment, the Associated Press reported.

An Hezbollah official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Afif was killed in an airstrike in Beirut, Lebanon, on Thursday local time.

Israeli forces have struck the Ras al-Nabaa region in the heart of the city, rather than the southern suburbs of Beirut, Hezbollah's main stronghold, and have unusually not ordered evacuations in advance, Israeli media Times of Israel said.

On the 22nd of last month, the Israeli military launched an airstrike in Dahiye, southern Beirut, and the press conference that spokesman Afif had been holding was suspended.

Afif is a close aide to Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah, who died in late September and has previously managed Hezbollah's own broadcaster, Almanar TV.
