Suspicious objects were discovered at Gatwick Airport outside London, England, causing disruption to operations as some terminals were once closed.
Sussex police dispatched an explosive disposal team as a precautionary measure after receiving a call on the morning of the 22nd local time that a suspicious prohibited item was found in the baggage.
Gatwick Airport said it evacuated passengers from some areas of the terminal while it investigated the incident.
In the afternoon, police security alerts were lifted and terminal operations normalized, but earlier flights were delayed or canceled, causing inconvenience to passengers.
Police say they view the suspicious object as a "fake device" and are continuing their investigation.
Gatwick Airport is the second most visited airport in the UK, about 48km south of London.
