The judge in charge of the trial of the "Sex scandal Muzzling Money Payment Case," which prosecuted U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, has officially postponed the trial.
Reuters reported that Judge Juan Merchant of Manhattan Criminal Court in New York decided on the 22nd local time to officially postpone the sentence for Trump, which was scheduled for the 26th.
Earlier, just before the 2016 presidential election, former President Trump was put on trial for handing over $130,000 and 180 million won to former adult movie star Stormy Daniels to prevent past sexual intercourse revelations.
In May, a jury found former President Trump guilty of all 34 criminal charges and was only facing a final sentence.
The Manhattan district attorney's office suspended the trial on the 19th and submitted an opinion to the court that he agreed to delay the sentence until the end of Trump's presidency, but maintained that he should not overturn the conviction and dismiss it.
Trump's lawyers, on the other hand, asked that the case be dismissed immediately on the grounds of criminal immunity from the U.S. president, and Judge Merchant said he should submit a letter requesting the case to be dismissed by December 2, leaving open the possibility of a decision to dismiss the case.
Trump has been put on trial in four criminal cases, including money from sex scandals, overturning the results of the presidential election, leaking confidential documents, and suspected overturning of a separate presidential election result indicted by Georgia prosecutors, but four cases are expected to end after his victory in the presidential election.
