Trump names 'loyalist' Rollins to Agriculture Secretary

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has named Brooke Rollins, president of the American First Institute, as secretary of agriculture for the second term of his administration.

Trump said in a statement on the 23rd local time that Rollins "will lead efforts to protect farmers, the true backbone of the United States, as the next Secretary of Agriculture."

Rollins has served as acting director of the White House's domestic policy committee during the first Trump administration and is close to Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner.

After the end of the first Trump administration, he has created a pro-Trump think tank, the "America First Laboratory," to promote Trump's policies and prepare for the second administration's policies.

It was once mentioned as the White House chief of staff for the second Trump administration, but Suzy Wiles, co-chairman of the camp, was finally selected as the chief of staff.

If Rollins is approved by Congress after an official nomination, he is expected to participate in Trump's tariff policy discussions that could affect U.S. farmers.
