It remains unchanged that Iran, which has exchanged retaliatory attacks with Israel, has the right to respond to Israel's offensive, but has said it will consider the recent situation in the region.

Foreign Minister Abbas Aracchi made the remarks during a visit to Portugal today (27th) when the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanese militant Hezbollah took effect.

He added that he hoped the ceasefire in Lebanon would be maintained and permanent.

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Bagai issued a statement shortly after the ceasefire came into force, saying he welcomed the ceasefire and firmly supported the Lebanese government and people's resistance.

Iran, which has been at odds with Israel for a long time and has recently increased its level of attack, has provided weapons and funds to Hezbollah.
