Russia has launched large-scale airstrikes on Ukraine's main power facilities, causing 1 million homes to lose power across the country.

Putin has warned that government and military facilities in the capital Kyiv could also be targeted in the future.

On the 28th local time, Russia launched a large-scale airstrike targeting energy infrastructure in western Ukraine.

90 missiles and 100 drones have been mobilized.

President Zelensky said attacks using cluster munitions had been confirmed in several regions and criticized it as a mean act of escalating tensions.

Power facilities have been hit hard by the use of cluster bombs that scatter several small bombs inside one bomb on the ground.

Across Ukraine, 1 million homes were without power, and some areas were injured.

Putin confirmed the attack and said it was a response to Ukraine's airstrikes on his territory with U.S. missiles.

He also warned that if Ukraine had nuclear weapons, it would fight them with all means of destruction.

The remarks appear to be in mind of U.S. media reports that U.S. President Biden could propose providing nuclear weapons to Ukraine before leaving office.

Putin said future targets for the new missile could include the capital Kyiv, citing decision-making headquarters, military facilities and defense industry facilities.

Russia has attacked Kyiv, but so far it has not attacked government buildings.

Tensions are rising as Putin himself talks about the possibility of bombing Ukrainian government facilities in the capital, Kyiv, following a large-scale airstrike on power facilities.
