Yes, the incident occurred in Magdeburg, the eastern German city.

A car drove into a crowded Christmas market yesterday afternoon local time, causing dozens of casualties.

Local media, citing police and rescue authorities, said at least two people were killed and 68 injured, 15 of whom were seriously injured.

In addition, the death toll is likely to increase, with one adult and one child confirmed so far.

CCTV footage showed the vehicle in question running at a high speed of more than 400m through a narrow passage between stands at the time of the accident.

Authorities in Saxony-Anhalt state arrested the driver at the scene and said it was believed to be a deliberate attack.

Police said they immediately closed the scene because the vehicle was suspected of having an explosive device.

The suspect caught at the scene is a 50-year-old man from Saudi Arabia, a doctor who settled in Germany in 2006.

It is believed to be the sole crime committed by driving a rental car.

In Germany, 13 people were killed and more than 60 injured in a terrorist attack targeting a Christmas market set up in central Berlin in 2016.

The suspect, identified as an Islamic extremist, was killed four days later after a gunfight with police in Italy.

The German government has since been wary of terrorist threats at the end of the year, detecting several suspects who planned to attack the Christmas market.
