Unification Minister Kim Young-ho promised to try to get six people detained in North Korea and the victims of the kidnapping to return to their families as soon as possible.

At a year-end meeting of the Christian Council of North Korea held at the Far East Broadcasting Station in Seoul on the 21st, Minister Kim said that the families of the six detainees are spending the holidays in tears without confirming whether they are alive or not.

The government also added that it will strive to confirm the life and death of those detained under the firm principle of protecting their citizens and repatriating them.

North Korea has released all U.S.-Canadian and other foreign detainees, but six South Koreans are held for up to 11 years.
