Syrian transitional government "disbanded rebel groups..."Regular army consolidation"

Syria's transitional government has announced that it has agreed to disband several rebel groups in the country and integrate them into regular forces.

The interim government issued a statement on Monday local time, saying the dissolved rebel groups would be integrated under the supervision of the Defense Ministry, and released a photo of Ahmed al-Shara, the head of the interim government, and rebel leaders.

However, the head of the Kurdish rebels in control of northeastern Syria was not seen in the picture, AFP reported.

Earlier on the 22nd, Al-Shara said the new government would never allow weapons beyond the state's control, and stressed that neither would Kurdish rebels.
