The 'AI Safety Research Institute' has opened to professionally respond to risks related to artificial intelligence.
The Ministry of Science and ICT announced that it held an opening ceremony of the AI safety research center at Pangyo Global R&D Center in Seongnam City, Gyeonggi Province, attended by about 40 key government officials and industry, academia, and research institutes.
The AI Safety Research Institute is a dedicated organization designed to prepare for various risks such as technical limitations of AI and human technology misuse and loss of control.
We plan to increase technology and manpower in the AI safety field and focus on policy research such as responding to international norms related to AI safety in cooperation with industry, academia, and research institutes.
Through this, it is not the nature of a regulatory agency, but the policy is to play a role as a cooperative agency to minimize risks that hinder domestic AI companies from securing global competitiveness.
