Korean researchers have developed a technology to detect illegal banners using public CCTV.
This technology is based on the principle of finding a banner on a CCTV screen, extracting the area of letters in the banner, and then recognizing it.
This is reporter Lee Sung Kyu.

It is a banner detection program using artificial intelligence.
When you set a specific area and click Inquiry, the banners appear in a certain order on the screen.
The researchers have developed a technology to locate banners in public CCTV images by learning existing banner data to artificial intelligence.
Whether the banner is illegal or not is important when it is installed and when it is installed.
In particular, in the case of party banners, the posting period was limited to 15 days, but the letters during the posting period are too small to read.
The researchers found the text area on the banner and added artificial intelligence to recognize the text in the area so that they could understand the overall content.
[Bae Yoo-seok / Lead researcher at Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute: Rather than recognizing the date, there are phrases installed. Because if someone recognizes the contents of a party, CCTV detects the banner, they see it duplicated, and then they can judge it illegal after 15 days by judging 15 days from the first recognized date of installation....]
The researchers plan to spread the technology to local governments across the country, saying that they have completed technology verification by applying the developed technology to Sacheon-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and Gyeongsan-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do.
