The first case of "paying inheritance tax with art"...Bringing into the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art

2024.10.07 오후 05:25
The first real case came out in more than a year since the "payment system," which can pay taxes on behalf of cultural heritage or art, was implemented.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said it will register four artworks that came in as inheritance tax as a collection of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art and use them for various exhibitions and events in the future.

The works received are two "Chantos" by Chinese artist Zeng Panz, the sunrise by Korean artist Lee Man-ik, and Jeon Kwang-young's Hanji sculpture "Gathering," which were approved for payment among the 10 works.

The payment system, which took effect in January last year due to the revision of the law, will be carried out when the review committee formed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism acknowledges the need for payment based on historical and artistic values.
