The Korea Water Resources Corporation held a groundbreaking ceremony for the 'Tina River Hydroelectric Dam' in Solomon Islands, a South Pacific island country, and began construction in earnest.
The construction is the largest single project in the Solomon Islands and will supply about 70% of the electricity used in the capital Honiara when the hydroelectric dam is completed and operational in 2028.
Yoon Seok-dae, president of Water Resources Corporation, said, "As a global water company, we will continue to work with international organizations to realize carbon neutrality and do our best to prepare a bridgehead for domestic companies' overseas expansion."
