A volunteer firefighter on the mountain saved lives before the paramedics arrived by first aid to a climber who had collapsed due to cardiac arrest.
Yesterday (10th) at around 9:20 am, a report was received that a man in his 50s was lying around the upper bus stop of Daedunsan Cable Car in Wanju-gun, Jeollabuk-do, while breathing abnormally.
Lee Jung-ran, commander of the volunteer fire brigade in Wanju, who found the patient while hiking with her husband at the time, performed CPR alternately with a cable car official for about 15 minutes and defibrillated three times with an automatic cardiac shocker.
By the time the paramedics arrived in about 20 minutes, the patient had already recovered not only his heartbeat but also his consciousness.
Jeonbuk Fire Department will award Lee Jung-ran a "Heart Saver" to prove the good deed of saving cardiac arrest patients.
