The Gyeonggi Provincial Audit Committee said it has detected 73 violations of regulations in 39 places as a result of a specific audit of 51 construction waste disposal sites.
By type, there were 31 violations of treatment standards such as not installing construction waste storage signs, 12 cases such as excessive storage allowed for temporary storage, 11 cases such as failure to report air and wastewater discharge facilities, 11 cases such as expansion of violating buildings, 4 cases of failure to comply with changes such as site expansion, 3 cases exclusively for illegal production areas, and 1 case of not installing air prevention facilities.
The provincial government notified the city of the points confirmed through the audit and demanded that it take judicial measures such as accusations or administrative measures such as imposing fines.
In September, the audit was conducted on construction waste-related workplaces in six cities in the province, including Yongin, Goyang, Paju, Gimpo, Pyeongtaek, and Hwaseong.
Ahn Sang-seop, chairman of the provincial audit committee, said, "This audit was conducted with the aim of checking the status of construction waste management and improving the field environment."
