The Gyeonggi provincial government said it finally counted 391.9 billion won in damage in the Gyeonggi area due to record heavy snow at the end of last month, and that six cities met the criteria for declaring special disaster areas.
According to the six cities that met the criteria, Anseong City had the largest damage with 112.2 billion won, followed by Pyeongtaek City, Hwaseong City, Yongin City, Icheon City, and Yeoju City.
The amount of damage based on the declaration of special disaster areas varies depending on the financial power index of each local government, with Anseong and Yeoju cities worth more than 12.25 billion won, and Pyeongtaek, Hwaseong, Yongin, and Icheon cities worth more than 14.25 billion won.
A total of 13,570 farms were affected, and 1,761ha of facilities such as greenhouses and ginseng fields and 386ha of crops such as flowers were damaged.
The 1,0211,547-square-meter barn collapsed and more than 1 million livestock died.
There were also 2,711 cases of damage, including damage to small business warehouses.
Earlier on the 6th, the province asked the Ministry of Public Administration and Security to declare these six cities and one dong, including Gwangju, Ansan, Siheung, and Osan Chopyeong-dong, as a special disaster area based on the provisional amount of damage.
