[Seoul] Release of 'Yeonhae-ro Public Transportation Exclusive Zone'...vehicle traffic permitting

From January 1 next year, the designation of Sinchon, Seoul, as a "public transportation-only zone" will be lifted, and vehicle traffic such as taxis and passenger cars will resume completely.

However, it continues to operate as a car-free street every Sunday.

Yonsei-ro Public Transportation District is the first pedestrian and public transportation street in Seoul in 2014, but Sinchon merchants and residents have requested the cancellation of the designation, saying it causes traffic inconvenience and decline in Sinchon's business district.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government, in particular, said that it temporarily lifted the exclusive district prior to the decision to examine the effect, and while the speed of vehicle traffic did not differ significantly, the number of bypass vehicles on the side road decreased and commercial sales rose more than 6%.The city of

plans to strengthen traffic safety facilities following the lifting of public transportation zones, and to help vehicle flow by cracking down on tailgating at Yonsei Intersection and adjusting the signal system.
