The average cost of postpartum care centers in Seoul is 4.78 million won, which is 1.31 million won more expensive than the national average.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Korea Women's Consumer Association surveyed the services and fees of 110 private postpartum care centers in the city and found that the average fee for a two-week use was 4.78 million won and a special room was 7.64 million won, which was 38% and 51% higher than the national average, respectively.

In addition, only 35% of the 110 private postpartum care centers disclosed details and costs of paid services such as massages.The city of

plans to ask the Ministry of Health and Welfare for confirmation, guidance, and supervision of violations of the law, saying that according to the Mother and Child Health Act, service items, rate systems, and refund standards should be disclosed on the website.

In addition, half of the damage to postpartum care centers received by the Korea Consumer Agency for about three years from 2021 is related to contract cancellation, termination, and penalties, and in order to prevent this, it said it would request the Fair Trade Commission to review unfair terms and conditions.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government added that it will do its best to protect consumers by actively promoting system improvement for consumer issues that are closely related to civic life.
