The Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation announced that it will hold the "Gyeonggi University Student Musical Festival" at the Gyeonggi Art Center Small Theater in Suwon City from January 5 to 18 next year.
The event is part of the Gyeonggi Youth Arts Opportunity Audition" project promoted by Gyeonggi Province, designed to provide opportunities for creation to college students and young prospective artists in performing arts in the province and to provide a place for cultural exchange."
The Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea Musical Association in June to plan the event and held a festival preliminary round in November.
About 400 college students from 11 universities and 13 teams in the province participated in the preliminary round, and five teams from universities, including Dong Seoul National University, Yewon College of Arts, Dankook University, Daejin University, and Han Generation, advanced to the finals.
The award ceremony will be held on January 18 next year, and the winning team will be awarded the grand prize and 10 million won in prize money by the governor of Gyeonggi Province.
