Starting this year, new registered corporate vehicles worth more than W80 million will be required to have green license plates / Yonhap News
Since the government made it mandatory to attach "yellow green license plates" to corporate vehicles starting this year, various tricks have been taking place to avoid this.

Various expedients and evasion tricks were found, such as reporting low factory prices of cars or changing insurance subscribers. The circumstances of the presumption of tax evasion due to these methods were also revealed.

Kim Eun-hye, a member of the National Assembly's Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee, analyzed the data submitted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport yesterday (7th) and found that 47,242 of corporate cars registered in the first half of this year were imported, with 18,898 passenger and van cars worth more than 80 million won.

Among them, 6,290 vehicles were found not to have a light green license plate because they reported a vehicle price of less than 80 million won, which is lower than the general consumer price. All vehicles registered in the first half of this year are new cars, and the corporation reported the initial acquisition price.

For example, BMW's "M8 Coupe Compensation," which A Corporation reported at an acquisition price of 56.9 million won, is guided to 249.4 million won on the vehicle sales site on the 6th. If a vehicle is purchased at the basic price, the estimated tax amount is 3,0083,000 won. However, corporation A's tax estimate, which reported a low purchase price, was only 7,625,817 won. It is estimated that he paid 22 million won less in taxes.

It seems to have taken advantage of the loophole that car registration is a "reporting system" under the current law. When the car is registered, the car buyer will be reflected when he or she reports the "car release (acquisition) price" written on the vehicle production certificate made and issued by the manufacturer.

Representative Kim pointed out, "By reducing the purchase price, the amount of tax evasion such as acquisition tax, registration tax, and individual consumption tax will be significant," adding, "Since car registration is operated under a 'reporting system', such tricks and tax evasion are possible."

Meanwhile, the attachment of a "light green license plate" for high-priced corporate vehicles with a vehicle value higher than 80 million won has been implemented since January as President Yoon Suk Yeol's presidential pledge. President Yoon introduced the system with awareness of the fact that he purchased expensive supercars under the name of the corporation and used them privately.
