The Korea Communications Standards Commission, which has continued to knock on the doors of overseas platform companies to respond to the spread of deepfakes, sat face to face with Telegram officials for the first time.

Senior officials from Telegram and others attended two face-to-face meetings over the weekend to share a stronger response plan.

[Ryu Hee-rim / Chairman of the Korea Communications Standards Commission: One of the most important points is that we will apply zero tolerance to illegal information distributed on Telegram in the future.]

In addition to digital sex crimes, we have decided to continue cooperation on various illegal information distribution such as drugs and gambling.

In particular, he promised to strengthen practical cooperation with the Korean National Police Agency, raising expectations that the pace of digital sex crime investigations will accelerate in the future.

[Lee Dong-soo / Director of Digital Sexual Crime Review: If a person is involved in a crime through Telegram, we believe that the person's ID or phone number can be provided during cooperation with the National Police Agency on Telegram]

Telegram has accepted all 148 requests by the Korea Communications Standards Commission to delete illegal sex crime videos until this month.

On top of that, as a separate hotline that can communicate 24 hours a day is opened, it is expected that the deletion and blocking of illegal information will take place faster.
