Iran has launched a large-scale ballistic missile at Israel.

"We have fired ballistic missiles at critical military and security targets in central Israel," Iran's Revolutionary Guard said in a statement.

It then called the missile launch a retaliation for the deaths of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh, Hezbollah chief Hasan Nasrallah and Revolutionary Guard commander Abbas Nilforushan.

The Israeli military also announced that Iran had fired about 180 missiles.

Israeli forces sounded air raid alarm sirens across Israel and ordered air defense evacuations after detecting that missiles had been fired from Iran at around 7:30 p.m.

Air raid warnings and evacuation orders were lifted an hour after they were issued.

Takeoffs and landings were temporarily suspended at Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion International Airport and neighboring countries such as Jordan and Iraq also closed their airspace.

Israel's military says it has intercepted most Iranian missiles, and no casualties have been reported.

Iran's missile attack came more than five months after it launched an airstrike on the Israeli mainland with missiles and drones on April 13-14.
