Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs "Hold an event to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Dokdo tomorrow"

The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs said the Dokdo Heroes Festival will be held at Cheonggye Square in Seoul tomorrow to mark the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Dokdo, which repelled Japan's unauthorized invasion of Dokdo.

The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs said that more than 300 people, including Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs Kang Jeong-ae, members of the commemorative project, students, and citizens, will attend the ceremony organized by the Dokdo Guards Memorial Project.The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs explained that the Battle of Dokdo, called

, was won by 33 civilian soldiers against the Japanese Maritime Security Agency's ship that invaded Dokdo without permission on November 21, 1954, and it became an opportunity for Japan to never illegally invade Dokdo again.

To commemorate the spirit of its members, the Dokdo Guards Memorial Society has held a ceremony every year since 2013 with Nov. 21 as the Battle of Dokdo Day.
