Since July last year, more than 100 vehicles have been confiscated due to major accidents such as drinking and driving and taking the lives of others.

The prosecution says it will continue to strongly punish serious drunk driving accidents in the future.

A famous club DJ, identified only by his surname Ahn, hit and killed a motorcycle delivery man while driving his Mercedes-Benz car drunk in Gangnam, Seoul, in February.

The first trial sentenced Ahn to 10 years in prison, saying he should take responsibility close to the intentional offender, and also sentenced him to confiscation of Mercedes vehicles.

In June last year, six people were killed in a drunk driving vehicle in Osan, Gyeonggi-do, and the vehicle was also confiscated.

Prosecutors and police have confiscated or confiscated vehicles for drivers who have caused serious drunk driving accidents since July last year.

It is intended to deprive drivers who have caused many casualties by drunk driving, drivers who fled after accidents, and habitual drunk driving offenders of the vehicle, which is a tool for crime.

By the end of last month, more than a year after the measures were implemented, 444 vehicles were confiscated at the investigation stage, and 101 of them were confiscated.

In the early days of the implementation of the measures, the court rejected the seizure warrant, saying there was a lack of precedent, but in some cases, the prosecution submitted traffic fines and received the warrant again.

The number of people sent to drunk driving deaths and injuries decreased by 15% from an average of 335 per month in the first half of last year to an average of 285 per month in the first half of this year.

The Supreme Prosecutors' Office believes that strong punishments, including confiscation of vehicles, are effective in reducing drunk driving accidents, and plans to respond strictly in the future.
