Foreign media, including the New York Times, reported that the whereabouts of Commander Esmail Ghani of Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps' elite Quds Force are unknown.

Earlier, Israeli and Arab media reported that Ghani may have been killed or injured in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut, Lebanon.

Iranian media have not received a clear answer from officials about Ghani's whereabouts, and the Revolutionary Guard has not made any statement on the matter.

Reuters reported that Ghani had recently visited Beirut and had lost contact after a bombing on Thursday targeting Hashim Safiedin, who is considered Hezbollah's next head.

Sapiedin is also not confirmed to be alive.

"We have no information," Mahmoud Khmaty of Hezbollah's executive committee told Iraqi state television of the reported disappearance of Ghani, adding that "we are also looking for the truth of the matter."

Khmaty said Israel was not allowing a search to find Safiedin and that Hezbollah would take time to pick its next head.

The Quds Force is an elite unit responsible for overseas operations within the Revolutionary Guard, with a mission to fund pro-Iranian armed groups operating in Iraq, Syria and Lebanon, as well as to support weapons, training and counterterrorism operations.Commander

Gani has been in charge of Quds forces, replacing Iranian national hero Gaseem Soleimani, who was assassinated by the United States in 2020.
