Even ancient Roman ruins in Lebanon are threatened by Israeli attacks, CNN reported on the 6th local time.

According to reports, the governor of Lebanon's Balbeck-Hermel province, Bachir Khodr, said in a post on X that a bomb had fallen near the ruins of ancient Rome, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Balbeck.

He also said the Israeli military did not appear to have attacked ancient Roman ruins, but that bombs fell 500 to 700 meters away from the ruins, and that he was concerned about a negative impact on ancient Roman ruins.

At the same time, he also released an image showing smoke rising near the ancient Roman ruins.

Balbeck, located in northeastern Lebanon, is a historic city with ancient Roman temples and other sites preserved, but has been a target of Israeli forces over the past year because it is an active area of Hezbollah.
