Joe Biden issued a statement saying that a year later, he and Vice President Harris continue to be committed to the safety of the people of Israel and to the security of Israel.

He also said he supported Israel's right to defend itself against attacks by Hezbollah, Hamas, the Houthis and Iran.

President Biden says the conflict caused by Hamas will also be remembered as a dark day for Palestinians and that too many civilians have suffered and thousands have died in the past year.

President Biden said he would not halt efforts to reach a cease-fire agreement to free hostages, provide humanitarian aid and ensure Israeli security, stressing that both Israelis and Palestinians have the right to live with security, dignity and peace.

Vice President Kamala Harris also said in a separate statement that what Hamas did was brutal, disgusting and evil itself and that the same thing should not happen again.

He promised to use all his powers to eliminate the threat of Hamas and to prevent Hamas from ruling Gaza again.
