[Yoon Suk Yeol / President]
Mr. Wong, Singaporeans, thank you for your warm hospitality.

I am very happy to make a state visit to Singapore, a key ally of ASEAN, ahead of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations next year.

Through this visit, we were able to confirm that Singapore is moving forward vigorously toward the future under the excellent leadership of Prime Minister Wong.

Singapore and South Korea have been steadily developing friendly and cooperative relations for half a century since they established diplomatic relations in 1975.

The two countries have emerged as global economic powerhouses as a result of cultivating talented people and establishing high-tech and financial hubs despite unfavorable conditions such as lack of natural resources.

Singapore and South Korea, which have led the development and prosperity of Asia, are now establishing themselves as leaders in the future, covering AI, digital, and green economies.

Today, Prime Minister Wong and I discussed in depth ways to develop friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries in a more future-oriented and reciprocal manner.

First, the two countries decided to establish a [strategic partnership] next year as a first step toward preparing for a new 50 years ahead of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2025.

To this end, the two countries agreed to further strengthen strategic cooperation in major areas.

In particular, we will deepen cooperation in the field of high-tech and start-ups, including AI, which will be the driving force for future development.

The Technical Cooperation MOU and Startup Cooperation MOU signed today will serve as priming water for this.

In addition, we will also promote R&D cooperation to jointly respond to global challenges such as the food crisis and the pandemic caused by abnormal climate.

Secondly, Prime Minister Wong and I decided to further strengthen the supply chain and energy cooperation of strategic materials in response to the growing instability of the international economy.

Based on the [supply chain partnership agreement] signed between the two countries, we decided to strengthen supply chain cooperation in bio, energy, and high-tech industries and respond to supply chain disruptions together.

The [LNG Supply and Demand Cooperation MOU] signed between Korea, the world's third-largest LNG importer, and Singapore, a global LNG trading hub, will contribute to the establishment of a stable international supply chain for energy.

Third, Prime Minister Wong and I decided to strengthen the institutional foundation for human and material exchanges.

We welcome the revitalization of exchanges between the peoples of the two countries, with the number of mutual visitors exceeding 900,000 last year, and have decided to revise the 1972 Aviation Agreement by next year.

In addition, we agreed on the need for cooperation to foster excellent human resources and decided to seek educational cooperation projects using AI and digital technologies.

In addition, we welcome the possibility of rapid investigation, arrest, and extradition of criminals fleeing abroad through the signing of the [Criminal Humanitarian Treaty] and will further strengthen judicial cooperation between the two countries.

Finally, Prime Minister Wong and I agreed to work closely on regional and international issues as well.

Prime Minister Wong and I agreed that the international community will never tolerate North Korea's illegal nuclear development and reckless provocations, and that we will work closely to ensure that a clear and united message from the international community will be sent to North Korea at the ASEAN summit.

On the 35th anniversary of the ASEAN-Korea dialogue this year, Prime Minister Wong expressed his active support for the upgrade to [Comprehensive Strategic Partnership].

In this regard, the two leaders agreed to work together actively for the successful implementation of the Korea-ASEAN Solidarity Initiative (KASI).

For South Korea, Singapore is a partner that has worked together for the development of the country over the past half century and a key partner that will pioneer the future together.

We will do our best to faithfully implement the matters discussed at today's summit and prepare for the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries next year.

Once again, I would like to thank Prime Minister Wong, the Singaporean government and the Singaporean people for their warm hospitality.

Thank you.
