Celebrating its 72nd anniversary, the Veterans Association held a ceremony today at the Air Force Hotel Convention Hall in Daebang-dong, Seoul, attended by more than 200 people, including Vice Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs Lee Hee-wan and Chairman of the Korean War Veterans Association Son Hee-won.

In his commemorative speech, Veterans Affairs Chairman Shin Sang-tae said, "The purpose and immediate task of the Hyang-gun is strong national security," adding, "We must sternly respond to North Korea's various provocations and protect the land, sovereignty, and people's right to live."

At the same time, he emphasized that constant efforts should be made to enhance the welfare and status of military personnel who have devoted themselves to the country.

The Veterans Association was established in 1952 at the height of the Korean War to directly participate in or support combat from the rear.
