Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister Lee Ju-ho said he collected various opinions from inside and outside the medical community before announcing measures such as shortening the medical school curriculum to five years, but the organization countered that it had never communicated.

Deputy Prime Minister Lee answered at the parliamentary inspection of the National Assembly Education Committee today, "Did you consult with universities, professors, and medical students in advance to see if it would be unreasonable to shorten the medical school curriculum to five years?" to the Democratic Party's lawmaker Ko Min-jung, who collected opinions from the medical community and communicated with them.

He also said that he had regular meetings with the Korean Medical University and Medical Graduate Association, or the Medical Association, and received various opinions to make policies.

However, the Medical Association directly refuted that it had communicated with the Ministry of Education to convey the need for approval of students on leave of absence, but did not discuss a five-year medical school education plan separately.

At the same time, the association explained that it has made it clear that the five-year system is impossible.

In response to the rebuttal, Deputy Prime Minister Lee explained that various ideas came from the Medical Association, the Ministry of Education, and medical professors, and that they were gathered, and that they had such ideas during various discussions.
