Choi Eung-cheon, head of the National Heritage Administration, attended a parliamentary audit of the National Assembly's Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee and asked if he had any plans to change the Gwanghwamun signboard to Hangeul, saying that there is no change in his position at this time.

Commissioner Choi added that it is necessary to be cautious about changing the signboard as it has been decided as the current signboard after more than 10 years of expert discussion and research services.

Recently, Korean organizations and others argued that the Gwanghwamun signboard should be replaced with Hangeul, and Minister Yoo In-chon also said at a press conference that considering Gwanghwamun is a representative attraction visited by many foreigners, it is necessary to review the translation into Hangeul.
